What a nice, warm morning to take the dogs to another one of my favorite spots in North Canterbury: Pegasus Town. I think the man-made lake is the most appealing feature of the township, likely because it reminds of my hometown in Brazil: Brasilia, where there’s also a man-made lake. We had Indie at Day Care today so I took her and my boys Rocky, Wookie and Jack for a nice long walk around Pegasus Lake. I am enjoying the warm days in North Canterbury and hoping for a long-lasting summer....

A walk along the NCF Reserve in Kaiapoi's Red Zone

Today’s morning walk was along the Kaiapoi Red Zone where there’s now a beautiful park/reserve called NCF Reserve (sorry, I have no idea what NCF stands for – please feel free to write under the “comments” if you do!). It’s one of my favorite spots in Kaiapoi to take the dogs to. But please keep your dogs under control because of the wildlife. There’s a lake where you see all sorts of birds, and they do come up on the lawn to sunbathe. So, last thing you’d want is for your dog......

A walk along the Christchurch Coastal Track (Redcliffs to Sumner)

We had our guest at Daycare today, Ruby, a cute whippet who’s been coming to Rocky & Co. Pet Care for a few months now. She’s full of energy and loves to go for long walks, just like my boys do. Today was a drizzly and cool day, and I didn’t want us to be stuck inside the house, so I took my 3 boys and our guests Macca (a Sidney Silk) and Ruby to one of my favorite city walking tracks: the Christchurch Coastal Pathway. We probably did about 2 km......

Always be sure to watch out for these when walking your dogs: – Litter – Other dogs’ poop – Sun (especially in the summer) – Water puddles – Pesticides and Rodenticides sometimes found in recently treated lawns, yards, agricultural fields, flower gardens, and buildings, – Toxic plants – Unleashed dogs The text also mentions wild animals, but that’s not necessarily the case here in NZ, unless you take your dogs on tracks where there are wild pigs. This one time while walking Rocky up the Mt. Oxford Track, a group of 3......

Sunday walk with 9 dogs - a record for me!

We took our guests for a long walk through Silverstream Village in Kaiapoi. What a great bunch they were, enjoying the nice sunny weather and the sights, for it was the first time in that location for some of them. I loved the surprise look in people’s faces and their amazement at how behaved they all were. I also enjoyed the company of my handsome Blair Grierson who was also the photographer of the day. A nice change in the way I look in pictures, which are mostly out-of-angle selfies with the......
