Our guest this weekend is Bud

This is Bud who’s made himself comfortable on our couch. He’s a 1-year-old Staffy-cross that we are looking after this weekend. He’s super playful and enjoys a good wrestling game with Blair. Bud is such a placid and cuddly big dog! A great example to those out there who think this is a “vicious” breed. It’s all in how you raise and treat your dog. Little chihuahuas can be more ferocious than this big fella here. When you treat them kindly, any dog pays you with twice as much love....

Always be sure to watch out for these when walking your dogs: – Litter – Other dogs’ poop – Sun (especially in the summer) – Water puddles – Pesticides and Rodenticides sometimes found in recently treated lawns, yards, agricultural fields, flower gardens, and buildings, – Toxic plants – Unleashed dogs The text also mentions wild animals, but that’s not necessarily the case here in NZ, unless you take your dogs on tracks where there are wild pigs. Grafitte was rescued by my parents in 2011. He was found on the street and looked like he had been hit by a car, so my father took him to a nearby vet clinic and fell in love with him. Rescued dogs are the most grateful beings that your can find! And Grafitte is now one of the (six) very spoiled dogs that my parents have. My parents and I traditionally sit in the lounge after we’ve had lunch to watch tv. Obviously, the dogs are part of our routine too and......

For many people, their dogs are a family member and the loss of a dog can be just as painful as losing a human loved one. I wish there was a way to “teach” people how to cope with the pain of (or the expectation of) losing a dog. Unfortunately, there isn’t a recipe for that. I’ve had dogs all my life and losing them either to old age or to an accident never gets easier or less painful. But it is something that we know will eventually happen and as much......

Attention Dog Lovers!!! I know you probably love peanut butter and so does your dog. Maybe some of you give peanut butter to your dogs as treat? Or to help you with their medication (e.g. pills)? Just be very careful with some brands that use a type of sweetener called xylitol. Xylitol is commonly used in several products such as tooth paste, yogurt, chewing gum etc. So, make sure you read the label for ingredients before you buy your next peanut butter jar. Better yet! Make your own peanut butter, that way......
