36 weeks of classes to graduate with a Certificate in Small Business Management & Project Management. I am very pleased to have concluded another step that has definitely made me more confident about managing my own business. Anyone interested in doing this course, just go to Te Wananga o Aotearoa‘s website and look for CSBM (Certificate in Small Business Management & Project Management). The course is totally free and very thorough. We have all the support from our lovely and dedicated teacher Julie Falls-Anderson. Here’s a video of my final presentation to......

Information for pet owners. ??????? Antibiotic resistance is a big issue but we can all play our part in helping to reduce its further emergence and spread. We’ve put this graphic together to show how you can help. The key message is to follow the advice of your veterinarian, and if your pet is prescribed antibiotics make sure you follow the instructions and complete the prescribed course. Regular check-ups, up-to-date vaccinations, good nutrition and hygiene will also play a huge part in preventing disease. If we prevent disease we reduce the need for......

Grafitte was rescued by my parents in 2011. He was found on the street and looked like he had been hit by a car, so my father took him to a nearby vet clinic and fell in love with him. Rescued dogs are the most grateful beings that your can find! And Grafitte is now one of the (six) very spoiled dogs that my parents have. My parents and I traditionally sit in the lounge after we’ve had lunch to watch tv. Obviously, the dogs are part of our routine too and......

For many people, their dogs are a family member and the loss of a dog can be just as painful as losing a human loved one. I wish there was a way to “teach” people how to cope with the pain of (or the expectation of) losing a dog. Unfortunately, there isn’t a recipe for that. I’ve had dogs all my life and losing them either to old age or to an accident never gets easier or less painful. But it is something that we know will eventually happen and as much......

Attention Dog Lovers!!! I know you probably love peanut butter and so does your dog. Maybe some of you give peanut butter to your dogs as treat? Or to help you with their medication (e.g. pills)? Just be very careful with some brands that use a type of sweetener called xylitol. Xylitol is commonly used in several products such as tooth paste, yogurt, chewing gum etc. So, make sure you read the label for ingredients before you buy your next peanut butter jar. Better yet! Make your own peanut butter, that way......

Sunday walk with 9 dogs - a record for me!

We took our guests for a long walk through Silverstream Village in Kaiapoi. What a great bunch they were, enjoying the nice sunny weather and the sights, for it was the first time in that location for some of them. I loved the surprise look in people’s faces and their amazement at how behaved they all were. I also enjoyed the company of my handsome Blair Grierson who was also the photographer of the day. A nice change in the way I look in pictures, which are mostly out-of-angle selfies with the......

Doggy Day Care News - a play house for the dogs!

We are so excited about our new and huge dog play house! Ample space for a mattress, a beanbag and dog toys. It’s NOT a sleep out. It’s for our Dog Day Care. The dogs can use it as they please and whenever they want. A quiet area for those less energetic, more senile, or simply want some time-out from the fuzz. The long-stay dogs will sleep inside the house in our fully mattressed lounge.  Thank you Fiona and Jaco Bester for this beautiful play house! — at Super Fort- Bester’s Outdoor Living....
